While in Hong Kong, Mr. Geaslin took early retirement from government service and founded two companies: manufacturing organic soil conditioners and light-weight soils for large-scale landscaping projects, and hydroseeding. San Miguel Brewery, the primary investor in the company, assumed management when Mr. Geaslin returned to California in 1980.
After designing and building two residences on the central coast, Mr. Geaslin obtained his real estate brokers license and moved to Palm Springs where he joined Eadie Adams Realty Company in 1984 concentrating on commercial and land activity. Mr. Geaslin has a broker designation, is a Realtor and belongs to the California Desert Association Board of Realtors. He has served as the board chairman of the local government relations committee, member of the rent control committee, and member and chairman of the commercial committee, and member and chairman of the commercial committee and MLS (Multiple Listing Service) Users Advisory Committee.
Mr. Geaslin was one of the owners of Coldwell Banker Eadie Adams Realty until it sold to Coldwell Banker in 2004. Mr. Geaslin's commercial transactions have included representing the May Department Stores in selling their Palm Springs Robinson's Department Store, a 29,000 square foot retail outlet for $2.2 million (Mr. Geaslin subsequently leased the building for the new owner); selling the Vineyard shopping plaza in the Palm Springs central business district comprising 40,000 square feet for $4.4 million., and smaller commercial properties. Represented a developer in acquiring commercial building lots on El Paseo in Palm Desert, and represented owners and buyers in large land transactions, the largest being 550 acres for $4.5 million.
Mr. Geaslin represents or has represented owners in marketing various types of properties such as a 128-unit apartment complex; the 13-acre Frank Sinatra ranch Property in Rancho Mirage; a 7-acre shopping center site in Desert Hot Springs; a 38-acre shopping center site in Twentynine Palms: The Alan Ladd Spanish Inn, a Palm Springs hotel owned by the Alan Ladd family; leasing the Alan Ladd Building, a 26,000 square foot retail/office building in downtown Palm Springs selling the Alan Ladd Building; a 337-acre commercial site on Interstate I-10 near Palm Springs; a 32,000 square foot office building in Indio; an 18-acre residential site in Rancho Mirage; a 12-acre automotive site in Cathedral city; a 13,000 square foot strip retail center in Desert Hot Springs; a 14,000 square foot office/retail center in Rancho Mirage and numerous land parcels.
Mr. Geaslin has supervised and coordinated the efforts of large groups of people in goal-oriented tasks. He is accustomed to reviewing income and expense figures on commercial properties, assessing the market to establish values for commercial and land properties. He is familiar with development costs.
